Researcher Profile

Lennard Pelikan is a PhD student at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) in Leipzig, Germany. Working with Dr. Martin Bauch, he researches plague phenomena in Bohemia and Moravia after 1380 until the 16th century. In his research, Lennard Pelikan is interested in the effects the plague had on various aspects of human life and the forms people found to cope with the contingencies caused or intensified by the epidemic. His project aims to take a longer-term perspective on plague waves in Late Medieval Bohemia and Moravia and, thus, strives to examine whether changes in how the plague was handled over time can be identified.
