Researcher Profile

I specialize in interdisciplinary research integrating social, cultural, and architectural history. My academic work focuses, among other areas, on the study of sacred buildings, including crypts. I analyze them by reconstructing the functioning of communities, founders, and local elites.

In my research, I primarily employ the critical analysis of written sources, archival research, the study of inscriptions, and conservation documentation. For many years, I have successfully obtained funding for construction, conservation, and restoration work on historic monuments, as well as for archaeological and anthropological projects; consequently, issues related to architecture are of particular importance to me.

An important strand of my research concerns war losses and the transformation of cultural heritage in the territories incorporated into Poland after 1945.

At the same time, I conduct research on the history and heritage of the Brandenburg region, analyzing its connections with areas that are now within the borders of Poland. I am particularly interested in the political and confessional processes that shaped this region, as well as their reflection in architecture and the organization of sacred space.
